A woman came to see me holding a photograph. In the photo, there was a couple. The woman said, ‘They are about to get married. Please bless them, Master Lu, so that their marriage is harmonious, and they remain forever happy!’
I reached out and touched the photo.
To my astonishment, I saw the ‘King of Yama,’ also known as ‘Yama Raja.’ In the esoteric tradition, the image of ‘Yama Raja’ is depicted as follows:
He has an angry expression with bull-like horns.
He holds a scepter.
He rides a bull.
In reality, ‘Yama Raja’ is the ‘God of Death.’
The woman asked, ‘Will they be happy and fulfilled?’ I was momentarily unable to answer.
I told her, ‘After returning, tell this couple to recite the “High King Avalokitesvara Sutra.” Because in that sutra, it is said to eliminate the suffering of life and death and dispel all poisons.’
The woman replied, ‘I am the groom’s aunt, and the bride is a Catholic. The groom has no religious beliefs. Asking him to recite the “High King Sutra” seems unlikely.’
I said, ‘Then you recite it on their behalf and dedicate the merit to them!’
The woman promised, ‘I will do my best!’
I added, ‘Please remind them to pay attention to safety issues.’
She asked, ‘What kind of safety issues?’
I replied, ‘In every aspect, be cautious and vigilant!’
Approximately three months later, the woman visited me again, still holding the same photo, and requested my blessings once more.
I asked, ‘What should I bless?’
She corrected me, ‘Not blessings, but deliverance.’
I inquired, ‘What happened?!’
To my shock, she said, ‘Master Lu was right. They needed to pay attention to safety. Unfortunately, after getting married and moving into an apartment, they closed all the windows and doors due to the cold weather. Unbeknownst to them, there was a gas leak in the bathroom, and both of them tragically lost their lives.’
The woman wept, and I felt deeply saddened.
I asked her, ‘Did you recite the “High King Sutra” for them?’
She replied, ‘Only once. I’ve been busy lately, but I plan to continue when things settle down.’
Finally, dear disciples:
There are many things I cannot openly discuss. For instance, I have seen the ‘God of Death.’ But I don’t want to instill fear in people’s hearts. However, I offer this warning: Be cautious and listen carefully!
Disciples, be astute and patient. The tasks I assign must be diligently completed without slackening!”
May you find wisdom and fulfillment in your endeavors, my dear disciples!
